Oracle cost optimisation exercise for multiple NHS Trusts

NHS Trusts across England and Wales had access to Oracle Database and Middleware technology licences through a centrally negotiated agreement that came to an end in June 2014.

What this meant to the Trusts, is that they had to identify all Oracle in use and then pay for perpetual use licences before the deadline. Many Trusts were unaware of what this future liability might be and so needed expert assistance to identify and then optimise any potential spend.

Rather than simply paying for what they had, Nymad designed solutions around what was actually needed. In some cases this resulted in a downgrade from Enterprise Edition to Standard Edition or even migrating away from Oracle on to Microsoft and Open Source equivalents.

This has resulted in Trusts reducing their licence requirement down to 10% – 20% of original predictions.
